Purba Bardhaman District Traffic Police Aims

The  Purba Bardhaman District Traffic Police is committed to reduce the number of traffic related deaths, injuries and crimes on roads. The main objective of the traffic unit is to ensure the smooth flow of traffic like "Save Drive Save Life". The district has many important roads like National Highway NH2, which connects many importent roads. Ensuring safe travelling on such roads is a priority of Purba Bardhaman District Traffic Police. Our overall aim is to improve driving standards and make roads safer. It is by supporting our operational colleagues, giving them the confidence that traffic offences will be dealt with and ensuring that victims are dealt with appropriately, that this aim can be achieved.


Objectives

    • Reduce road casualties
    • Reduce anti-social use of the roads.
    • Attend all fatal accidents.
    • Deny criminals use of the roads by enforcing the law
    • Enhance public confidence and reassurance by patrolling the road.

  • Sadar Traffic: The office of Dy.SP Traffic is accommodated in the SP Office building. Traffic Inspector (I) Traffic Inspector (II) and OC Sadar Traffic office is situated at Parbirhata Burdwan attached with the Parbirhata TOP.

  • Katwa Traffic: recently this traffic guard has been created with strength of 01 ASI as OC, 02 LC and 06 HGs 34CVs.

  • Kalna Traffic: recently this traffic guard has been created with strength of 01 ASI as OC, 02 LC and 02 HGs and 39CVs.

  • TOTOs are prohibited to ply on the GT Road and NH. To regulate and restrict the movement of TOTO on the GT Road, regular drives are conducted. 756 TOTOs have been seized till date in past 6 months.

  • Black Spots: The stretch of 115 KM on NH-2 passes through our District (from Basibpur to Muchipara). In this span three spots have been marked as category ‘A’ Black Spots. This refers to accident-prone areas of the highest order.

Installation of CCTV

    • 05 CCTVs have been installed on the NH2 and Budbud Bazar by the Chamber of Commerce.
    • 10 CCTVs are being installed at Guskara Municipality area within a week.
    • 8 CCTVs have been installed on B.C Road, Burdwan.
    • 40 CCTVs are being installed by the Burdwan Municipality within 3 weeks.
    • Requisition has been given from DySP Traffic to Chairmen of Katwa, Kalna, Dainhat & Memari Municipalities for installation of CCTVs in their Municipal areas.

Safe Drive Save Life



422 boards of “Safe Drive Save Life” campaign have been installed on various roads of the district initially.

Another green 500 boards of specifications outlined by Traffic Department will be installed within one week.

Supervision

 

1) Generally, one constable is in charge of 10 CVs during VIP and L/O duties.

2) Anchal Officers supervise duties of CVs in their Anchals.

3) RT & Night mobile Officers check their duties on rounds.

4) Village Police Volunteers are also supervising the work of CVs in their respective areas.
